Visit Nanjing's Huiji Temple and Admire the Thousand-Year-Old Ginkgo King of Jinling

The ginkgo trees at the ancient Huiji Temple are now beginning to turn yellow, with their branches shifting from green to gold, as if gathering strength for a magnificent golden display. Based on past years, they will reach their peak splendor from late November to mid-December.

Stepping into the Huiji Temple Cultural Park feels as if time suddenly slows down. The three ancient ginkgo trees here are said to have been planted personally by Prince Zhaoming, Xiao Tong, during the Southern Liang Dynasty, and have witnessed more than 1,500 cycles of spring and autumn.

Standing beneath the ancient trees and looking up, the crystal-clear golden ginkgo leaves resemble a giant umbrella stretching between heaven and earth. The weight of history and the passage of time become tangibly real at this very moment, revealing an enduring vitality.

After strolling beneath the ginkgo trees, visitors can relax at the nearby Zhaoming Tea House. It carries on the scholarly lineage of Prince Zhaoming, and amid the rising aroma of tea, one can almost travel back a thousand years and converse with that elegant era.

Holding a cup of hot tea and watching the golden leaves slowly fall through the window, time here becomes gentle and unhurried. The aroma of tea and the scent of literature, together with the swaying millennium-old ginkgo outside, creates the most luxurious enjoyment of this autumn.
