The Ten-Mile Qinhuai

The Qinhuai River, often called the “Mother River of Nanjing,” stretches for 110 kilometers and splits into two branches:
●The Inner Qinhuai flows about 5 kilometers through the city, entering at Dongshuikou, passing landmarks like Huaqing Bridge and Wende Bridge, and exiting at Xishuikou. This stretch is famously known as the Ten-Mile Qinhuai.
●The Outer Qinhuai runs along the eastern, southern, and western sides of the old city wall, serving as the city’s moat. The two branches meet outside Shuimen before flowing into the Yangtze River.
